Our focus is on building our clients’ businesses with PR, marketing, social media and traditional advertising. Break The Ice clients include retail, service, tourism, community organizations and non-profits.
We are looking for an energetic intern interested in marketing and public relations. This is a paid, semester-long internship with opportunities to grow your portfolio and gain real industry experience.
When we're looking for interns:
We look for student additions to the BTI team three times a year.
"Spring Semester" - An internship from January through May. Applications are accepted in November.
"Summer Semester" - An internship from late May through August. Applications are accepted in March.
"Fall Semester" - An internship from late August through December. Applications are accepted in July.
What you’ll do at Break The Ice Media:
While your day-to-day will always be different, these are the types of activities you can expect during your semester with BTI.
Social media posts & monitoring
Update community calendars and websites
Work with our team on client projects
Monitor clients’ press coverage
Assist with special events on-site (when available)
Online research for clients
Draft client materials like press releases
Who we’re looking for at Break The Ice Media:
We’d really like to hear from you if you have these qualities.
Positive attitude
Motivated
Detail-oriented
Ability to work within deadlines.
Strong organizational & writing skills
Basic understanding of business etiquette.
Demonstrated interest in communications, PR, marketing, event planning or business.
Good phone skills and comfortable calling without introduction, and answering the phone when needed.
Knowledge of social media sites and ability to use them in a professional setting.
Adept at using Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of website design, graphic design or web applications (i.e. Survey Monkey, Wordpress) are helpful but not required.
We prefer students majoring in Business, Communications, Public Relations or Marketing.

How To Apply
Break The Ice Media is located at 15 Schoen Place in Pittsford.
The internship will be 10-15 hours/week for one semester (or summer period).

What's a creative writing sample?
A creative writing sample can be any piece of writing you've done for school, past internships or any other writing you have done. It will give us an idea of your writing strengh and your creativity, which is important when joining the Break The Ice team.
